Investment risk: what does it really mean for an individual investor?
Why risk is more than volatility and how to think about loss, liquidity and misalignment with the objective.
Coming soonPersonal finance • risk • investing
I help people bring structure to their personal finances and understand investing more clearly — in a practical way and without unnecessary jargon. I combine more than 12 years of global financial-market experience with professional expertise in portfolio analysis and investment risk.
Educational approach: understand the objective first, then consider the possible actions.
“Understand first. Decide second.”
How I help
My role is to help you understand your situation, organise your priorities and approach decisions with greater confidence — without starting the conversation with a financial product.
Conversations tailored to your knowledge, objectives and questions. We clarify the concepts, relationships and risks worth understanding before an important financial decision.
Goals, liquidity, financial resilience, time horizon and risk tolerance — organised into a coherent framework for possible next steps.
An educational look at diversification, concentration, costs, liquidity and sources of risk. The objective is to understand what you own and how it may behave.
Practical sessions on investing, risk, financial instruments and decision-making under uncertainty — for individuals and teams.
Institutional perspective
About
I have worked in international finance for more than 12 years. My experience covers investment-risk management, portfolio and performance analysis, derivatives, foreign-exchange markets and the infrastructure supporting asset management.
I currently work on the buy side, providing independent risk oversight for portfolios and investment strategies within one of the world’s largest asset-management organisations.
In my professional role, I analyse complex exposures, risk factors and market scenarios. Here, I translate that experience into clear language, practical questions and principles that help people make more informed decisions.
The objective is not to predict every market move. It is to understand which risks we are taking, why we are taking them and whether they remain consistent with our goals.
Experience
Rather than reproducing a complete career history, these three areas show how my perspective on investing and risk has developed.
Risk assessment of investment strategies, exposure and factor analysis, stress testing, market scenarios and constructive challenge in cooperation with portfolio managers.
Extensive experience analysing investment performance, sources of return, exposures and portfolio structure using data from multiple analytical systems.
Practical knowledge of derivatives, foreign-exchange markets, collateral, settlements and operational processes supporting trading and asset management.

My approach
This order helps limit impulsive decisions, performance chasing and the selection of products that do not fit the real objective.
We begin with your goals, time horizon, liquidity needs and current situation — not with a particular financial product.
We consider adverse scenarios and the degree of volatility, loss or limited access to capital that you can realistically accept.
We translate the conclusions into a clear structure of priorities and next steps that you can understand, assess and implement consciously.
“A good financial decision does not have to be complicated. It should be understood, considered and aligned with the objective.”
Educational tools
The calculator and short questionnaire do not replace an analysis of your circumstances. They help reveal which questions matter most.
See the illustrative effect of time, contributions, return assumptions and inflation.
